Time: 1944 Finland
Weather: just rained, cold
Feeling: Happy
Was watching One Piece when Ya Zhen msned me. She asked if I wanted to attend the Wilderness Dining which I received invitation about 1 hour before she asked. I immediately agreed because 1) FREE!! 2) Nothing better to do other then watch movies.
When we reached our destination, the area was totally deserted. All we saw were trees, some log houses and more trees. We would have walked off if it weren’t for some random heads which popped up from behind some trees. We walked towards them and found some people doing outdoor cooking. As we didn’t know if they were the ones who organized the event, we pretended to walk around. Luckily some guy came out from one of the log houses to greet us. Turned out there were only two guests so far…Ya Zhen and me. LOL. He told us that the chef had gone to bring some more people there. The food wasn’t ready yet so he gave us a tour around the log houses.
The whole place is actually a museum. The log houses were transferred to Imatra from somewhere in Finland and they displayed a typical Karelian farm house in the olden times. The tour was interesting and the most fascinating thing that I learnt was that Finns in the past were short. All the ceilings were about 10 cm above me. If I jumped in the house, my head will break through the ceiling.
Pour water on the rocks
And finally DINNER. Good news (to me), there were no other guests so 10 people get to feed on 20+ people share of food. Muahaha.
Menu:
Soup- mushroom + cauliflower
Main course- potato + mutton (my first time) + survival cumber + braised root vegetable
Dessert- open fire pancake- Suvi Saimaajuice (Rhubarb, red current, raspberry) it was the first time they made it so we were all guinea pigs
- coffee/ tea
Drinks- cranberry juice with 7up and Lingonberries soup bowl made from rye flour...edible bowl...whee!

braised veg roots No Wendy...this is not a WHOLE lambPIE!!!!
Overall I thought the food was not bad for a meal cooked in the wilderness. The ‘pancake’ turned out to be some sort of pie because they put too much dough so you will get sick of it if you eat too much.
There was a lot of food left so everyone had to ‘da bao’. Took quite a lot of food, hope it lasts.
Random: Someone didn’t believe that I am 173cm tall…she thought I was shorter.
